Environmental Policy

Tree Fella Plc is committed to the full recognition of its responsibilities to the environment through the processes needed to meet its customer requirements in line with those as detailed in its ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
The companies business and environmental commitments and aims are:

• To prevent pollution and save natural resources by operating in the most environmentally efficient and friendly way.
• Hard landscape products are used intact or reused as hardcore.

• To ensure that where possible all by-products of its processes are reused or recycled as chippings, compost, mulches, fence posts, pit props or sold as logs as appropriate.
• Ensure that its activities are safe for all employees and public alike.
• Comply with all legislative and legal requirements
• Encourage best environmental practices.
• Operate an Environmental Management System to fulfill this policy

This commitment extends to all areas of its business whether carried out on its own or on its customer’s premises.
It further aims to continuously improve its environmental performance in order to safeguard the quality of the environment both locally and globally.

To facilitate its commitment it will operate as follows:

Landfill
By-products are placed in skips only as a last resort, after all other avenues have been exhausted

Tree surgery
Large tree sections are stored and used for bespoke timbers.

Small branches, hedge cuttings and prunings etc., are chipped/ shredded together with leaves or needles and sold as green compost, woodchip and mulches.

Topsoil
Topsoil is reused on site wherever possible or mixed with composted mulch for resale.

Hard landscaping
Materials are reused on site wherever possible either whole or as hardcore.

Non biodegradable waste
This is disposed to specialist contractors.

Landscaping biodiversity
Clients are encouraged to have landscaping plans take account of good environmental practice. To consider the impact on insect life and its consequences on the indigenous fauna and flora.

Machinery and equipment
Tree Fella Plc ensures that all its vehicles and equipment are in good and safe working order, with special attention given to oil or fluid leakage.

Legislation and regulations
To ensure that all applicable legislation and regulations are adhered to.
It is company policy to keep up to date and implement the requirements of all new environmental legislation.

Management responsibility
Tree Fella management are responsible for communicating to all employees the environmental need of the company and for enacting its environmental policy.

Chemicals
Where it is absolutely necessary to use chemicals, those used are as environmentally friendly as possible and are applied with due regard to the prevailing conditions (season, time of day, weather conditions, local wildlife, humans)

Local requirements
It is the aim of Tree Fella Plc, irrespective of any regulations or legislation to be a good neighbour, and while undertaking its arboricultural and recycling activities to reduce to a minimum any adverse environmental impacts.

Review of environmental policy, objectives and targets
Tree Fella Plc have a number of environmental objectives, which are communicated to its staff, and to the public. These targets are set and regularly reviewed by means of its environmental auditing, non-conformance control and management review
processes.
